Site conditions a padel court installer needs to check first
Leading installers ask questions before they quote, because the answers decide the price and the programme, and details such as door widths or slab thickness are easy to check early and expensive to discover late. These are the site conditions we check on every project, indoor or outdoor:
- A level area of 20 by 10 metres for the court plus run-off and access around it, in line with FIP dimensions.
- For indoor courts, clear height above the playing surface of at least 6 metres, ideally 8, and a door or opening the glass can get through.
- The condition of the existing slab, or the space and access to pour a new base with drainage.
- Access for a lorry and a forklift to unload glass and structures close to the court position.
- Power for the LED lighting and any limits on light spill, enclosure height or noise set by the planning authority.
Most UK padel court projects need planning permission, and the LTA publishes guidance on padel court construction that many local authorities use as a reference.
